Are you constantly frustrated?
As a business owner, a Mom, and a Wife with a a long list of things and challenges I would constantly feel frustrated.
Looking back at all that frustration was just an underlying belief, that nothing was enough. There wasn’t enough time in the day. I didn’t have enough time to spend with my kids. I couldn’t get enough done. The constant cycle of nothing is enough. I totally understand that feeling and how we can put so much pressure on ourselves to have it all done.
Do you want it done, so you don’t have to think about it?
Do you want it done, to support you business or your team of employees?
Do you want it done, so things are running efficiently in the business?
Do you want it done, because not having it done is causing you precious time and money?
Do you want it done, so that you can prove to yourself or others that you are capable?
There were times running my business which was licensed by the government and they dictated that my office be opening the same hours as the courts. I would get phone calls from the school that the kids were sick or they forgot there practice gear after school and I had no one else to help me out. I would have to leave and take care of the emergency. I learned early on, how to manage my day. Make a list and put out the forest fires first. ( the big must do’s) The campfires could wait, they could manage themselves for a hour, a few days or even a week.
It was so much less stress knowing by 10 am all the forest fires ( the must do’s) were done. If my whole day turned to shit, I wouldn.t worry about it, the forest fires were either dealt with for the time being or put out. If the rest of the things didn’t get done, I was ok with that. Those other things were the small campfires.
The amount of stress I let go of, the lighter my body felt. Most importantly I felt free to be more engaged with my customers, and more engaged with my employees, they felt more heard and noticed. I could tune in to how my employees were doing mentally, physically and spiritually. It’s all we really want right? To feel supported.
